Term, renewal, transfer and ending.
A UGAANA membership runs a year at a time, and you stay in control of it: how it renews, how to pass it on or pause it, and exactly what happens when you leave.

1. At a glance
- A year at a time. Your membership year starts on planting day and renews on each planting anniversary. We remind you 30 days before.
- Before planting: end it at any time. Nothing is charged before you sign; after signing, any setup fee is refunded under our refund policy.
- After planting: end it at your next renewal with 60 days’ notice.
- Transfer: free, to a family member, your nominee or a family on our waitlist.
- Pause deliveries whenever you like; your harvest goes to farm credit or donation.
- Your plants stay with the farm and are offered to the next family. You keep your harvest history and plant certificate.
- Harvest already picked for you before you leave is still delivered.
2. Term and renewal
A UGAANA membership is an annual farm-care service. Your first membership year starts on the day your plants go into the ground, and each year after that renews on the planting anniversary.
- 30 days before each renewal, we send you a reminder by WhatsApp or email with the next year’s care fee and what’s planned for your plants.
- If you do nothing, your membership continues for another year and the next care fee falls due on the anniversary.
- If you’d like to stop, tell us at least 60 days before the anniversary (see below). We send the reminder earlier than that when we can, and never less than 30 days before.
- Established trees are allocated for one season at a time. They end after the season unless you ask for the next one.
3. Ending before planting
Until your plants are in the ground, you can end your membership at any time.
- Before you sign the membership agreement, nothing has been charged, so there is nothing to refund. Just tell us.
- After you sign, the setup fee is refunded in full if we don’t plant in the agreed window or the crop doesn’t go ahead, and 90% if you cancel more than 30 days before planting and before saplings have been procured for you. The details are in our refund policy.
4. Ending after planting
After planting, your membership ends at your next renewal. Give us 60 days’ notice before your planting anniversary and we won’t charge the next year’s care fee.
- The setup fee isn’t refunded after planting: it paid for plants that are now established on the farm.
- The care fee for the current year covers care until the renewal date. It’s refunded pro-rata only if we fail to provide the service; see our refund policy.
- If you’d rather not wait until the renewal, you can transfer your membership instead, or pause deliveries until it ends.
5. Transferring your membership
You can pass your membership on at any time, free of charge, to:
- a family member;
- the nominee named on your membership; or
- a family on our waitlist for the same crop, whom we’ll introduce to you.
The new member signs an agreement on the same terms and takes over your plants, their plant passports and the rest of the membership year. If you transfer to a waitlisted family, we refund you the care fee for the full months left in the year and the new family pays us directly. For a family member or nominee, the care fee already paid simply carries over; UGAANA doesn’t take part in any payment between you. We’ll agree to a transfer unless there’s a good reason not to, such as an unpaid fee.
6. Pausing deliveries
Travelling, or simply have too much fruit for one season? You can pause deliveries from your dashboard or by message, for a harvest or for as long as you like.
- We keep caring for your plants as usual, so the care fee continues.
- While paused, each harvest goes to farm credit in your harvest wallet or is donated to a partner food bank, as you choose.
- Restart at any time; the next scheduled harvest comes to you as normal.
7. Changing your crops
You can ask to add crops at any time, or to swap a crop for another at your next renewal. Adding a crop is like any new reservation: it goes ahead once enough families join, with its own setup fee. Swapping a planted crop means ending that allocation at renewal and starting a new one, so the rules above apply to each part. We’ll talk you through the numbers before anything changes.
8. Nominee, death and relocation
- Name a nominee when you sign, and update them at any time.
- If a member dies, their nominee (or legal heir) may take over the membership free of charge, or end it without the 60-day notice period. Any care fee for the full months remaining is refunded.
- If you move abroad or out of the delivery area for your farm, you can switch to pickup, swap, donation or credit, transfer the membership, or end it without the notice period, with the care fee for the full months remaining refunded.
9. What happens to your plants
You never own the land or the trees, so when a membership ends your plants stay with the farm. We offer them to the next family on the waitlist, so they keep being cared for and their plant passport carries on.
- You keep your harvest history (every weight recorded for you) and your plant certificate.
- Any harvest already picked for you before your exit date is still delivered, or handled the way you’ve chosen.
- Unused farm credit can be used until it expires; it can’t be converted to cash. See our harvest policy.
10. Your data after you leave
After your membership ends and your last harvest is delivered, we delete your profile, family details, address and harvest preferences. We keep only what the law requires, such as invoices and tax records (typically up to 8 years), and an anonymous record of each plant’s history so the next family can see it. You can ask us to delete anything sooner where the law allows. See our privacy policy.
11. How to make a change
Signed-in members can use Manage membership on the member home to end, transfer, pause or change their membership. Or WhatsApp +91-9636369360 with your name and the mobile number on your membership. We’ll confirm in writing within 48 hours, with the dates and any amounts involved.
These rules summarise your membership agreement; you can read the sample membership agreement in full. If anything differs, the signed agreement applies, and nothing here affects your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
